United Development Company, Qatar

United Development Company (UDC) is one of Qatar’s leading private sector companies, and has been listed on the Qatar Exchange (sucessor of Doha Securities Market) since June 2003. The company was established in 1999 to enable private sector investors to participate in the economic development of Qatar and to provide optimum returns for partners, investors and shareholders alike. UDC currently has a paid-up share capital of QR 1.34 billion.

Rights Issue: June 5, 2005 – July 4, 2005

UDC held a Shareholder Rights Issue for a capital increase between June 5 and July 4, 2005, with subscription open to all shareholders registered at the Qatar Exchange (sucessor of Doha Securities Market) as of the close of business on Wednesday, May 25, 2005.

The Rights Issue offered subscribing shareholders one additional share for every two held, at a special price of QR 40 per new share inclusive of QR 30 share premium/share. The objective was to raise QR 1.1 billion in new capital for further investment and expansion. The Rights Issue was successful in reaching its target, and was in fact oversubscribed by over 40 percent.
