Overview

United Development Company (UDC) is a leading Qatari public shareholding company with a mission to identify and invest in long-term projects contributing to Qatar’s growth and providing good shareholder value. Established in 1999, the company went on to be listed on the Qatar Exchange in June 2003. It has an authorized share capital of QR 3.54 billion and total assets of QR 18.72 billion at 31 December 2016.


UDC’s current portfolio includes: real estate development, property management, infrastructure and utilities, energy-intensive industries, hydrocarbon downstream manufacturing, maritime related businesses, and hospitality.


From day one, the company has played an active role in the development of Qatar, rapidly evolving into a leading Qatari Shareholding Company and has successfully established several new companies and investment vehicles.

Wholly-owned UDC companies include Hospitality Development Company, Ronautica Middle East and Madinainova amongst others.


One of UDC’s landmark projects is The Pearl-Qatar, an urban mixed-use, man-made island development.
Located some 350 meters offshore of Doha’s prestigious West Bay District, The Pearl-Qatar is one of the largest real estate developments in the Gulf.

    Non-independent board member and representative of the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority - Civil Fund A Qatari national, Mr. Al-Khater holds a bachelor's degree in economics and social sciences from the University of Portland, USA. He currently serves as the President of the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority. Mr. Al-Khater previously assumed several senior posts at different Qatari organizations, including the post of General Manager at Hamad Medical Corporation and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Health. He is currently on the Board of Directors at Ooredoo and Masraf Al-Rayan.

Abdulla is currently a board member at Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company, GAZAL, Qatar Oman Investment Company and Oman-based Al-Madina Investment Company. He is also Chairman at Qatar Plastic Products Company.

He currently works as an investment analyst at Qatar Investment Authority, where he has worked on a number of acquisitions in the global real estate market. Mr. Kamal is a Qatari national. A board member at Mannai Corporation and Hines Pokrovsky, Mohamed Kamal is also a member of the Porta Nuova Milan Advisory Committee, one of the largest real estate complexes in Italy and a member of the Commercial Australian Prime Property Fund Review Committee.

He is a Qatari national. Mr. Almarri currently serves as Acting Head of The Financial Sector at the Ministry of Defense. He previously held the post of Head of the Financial Sector at Marafeq Qatar; Director of Business Development and Investment Promotion at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce; Director of Financial and Administrative Affairs at the National Committee for Human Rights; Certified Auditor at the State Audit Bureau and Internal Auditor at the National Bank of Qatar.

Mr. Al-Othman is currently Chief Executive Officer at United Development Company (UDC) and represents Qatar Petroleum as a board member at several joint ventures.

In his capacity he is responsible for the overall investment strategy, operational and financial performance of the investments. Al-Yafei has more than 20 years of rich experience in strategic planning, corporate performance, operations, maintenance, project management, enterprise risk management and business continuity management systems. Prior to joining UDC he held various management positions in Qatar Petroleum and other prestigious organizations and lead several national initiatives in the State of Qatar.

    Maher Naim joined UDC in 2005 and has since specialized in leading the company’s development as well as the management and control of all its financial activities. For more than a decade at UDC, his responsibilities have included preparing and monitoring the company's Budget, overseeing the management of Treasury and funding requirements along with issuing financial statements among others. In his current role he focuses on financial and business analysis, asset management and the company’s short and long term financial strategy. Prior to working with UDC, Naim held various senior managerial auditing positions at Arthur Andersen LLP, Ernst & Young and Deloitte. His past experience also includes Business Consulting Manager position at a local conglomerate in Qatar.

    Nouf Al-Sulaiti is UDC’s General Legal Counsel, the Head of the Legal Department and Secretary to UDC’s Board of Directors. She provides required legal guidance and advice to P&CEO and the management about activities and practices of the business. Before joining UDC, she was the legal lead and a member of the start-up team of Vodafone Qatar in 2009, taking part in the establishment of the company, issuance of the regulatory license and launch of the IPO. Nouf also served as Legal Counsel at Qatar Petroleum between 2005 and 2009.

    Richard Stearns joined UDC in 2017. He is responsible for overseeing all financial accounting, budgeting and reporting activities, adherence to financial processes and compliance with financial accounting and reporting standards. He also oversees the operational and financial operations of The Pearl Owner’s Corporation, an organization established to manage the Co-Owner Associations at The Pearl. Before joining UDC, Richard was the Senior Finance Manager for Gulf Drilling International, the national drilling contractor of Qatar, for 10 years and spent 21 years working as a Treasurer, Finance Manager, Commercial Planning Manager and Marketing & Business Development Manager for several international oil and gas companies based in the USA and throughout Southeast Asia. Prior to joining the oil and gas industry, Richard was a Certified Public Accountant working for the international accounting firm of Deloitte Haskins & Sells while based in his home town of Denver, Colorado.

    Talal Jondi is responsible for overseeing operations at UDC, including Engineering & Construction, HSSE, Procurement and Contracts Management. With his 29 years of international and GCC professional experience, Talal Jondi brings a wealth of knowledge in leadership and management of construction and real estate development to UDC. He has occupied various senior management positions in Europe, GCC and Qatar in leading international construction and real-estate development companies and had successfully led major flagship development.
