Overview

United Development Company (UDC) is a leading Qatari public shareholding company with a mission to identify and invest in long-term projects contributing to the growth of the State of Qatar and providing good shareholder value.


Established in 1999, the Company was listed on the Qatar Exchange in June 2003. It has an authorized share capital of QR 3.5 billion and total assets of QR 18 billion as of 30 June 2019.


From day one, the Company actively contributing in the development of the State of Qatar, rapidly evolving into a leading Qatari public shareholding company and has successfully established a group of various good performing investments.


Through a combination of project activities and commercial enterprise, UDC and its subsidiaries have accumulated a large amount of specific experience including detailed knowledge of real-estate development, property management, hospitality and maritime, infrastructure and utilities.


As part of its five-year business plan (2019 - 2023), UDC is leveraging its leading market position to achieve sustainable financial performance and maintain profitability targets by focusing on the core business activities and investing in new and viable real estate developments.


UDC’s flagship project is The Pearl-Qatar, an urban mixed-use, man-made island development. Located 350 meters offshore of Doha’s prestigious West Bay District, The Pearl-Qatar is one of the largest real-estate developments in the Gulf.


UDC is also in the process of developing Gewan Island located adjacent to The Pearl-Qatar Island, into the Company’s latest world class residential, commercial and entertainment project. This development has the potential of becoming a magnificent destination that will maintain UDC’s future growth.

    A Qatari national born in 1964, Mr. Mr. Ibrahim Jassim Abdel Rahman Al-Othman Fakhro holds a bachelor in petroleum engineering and a master's degree in business administration. He is currently the President & Chief Executive Officer of United Development Company. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Qatar Cool and a member of the Board of Directors of Qatari Diar. He also served as CEO and Board Member of Gulf Drilling International, and Chairman of Gulf Drilling International Company and Al-Shaheen Weatherford Company, in addition to being a Board Member at Al-Shaheen Holding and Al Seef Limited.

    Abdulla Al-Hamadi is responsible for the development and management of The Pearl-Qatar Master Community, Retail and Residential Assets. His Directorate ensures that appropriate mechanisms are put into place to ensure that the highest standards of maintenance, management, administration and control of all aspects of the use of Common-use, Master Community, Retail and Residential areas are preserved for the mutual benefit of all current and future property owners and visitors of the island. He has over 28 years of professional experience covering real-estate and international relations and acts as a member and Chairman for various Committees within various reputable government agencies and organizations including the Ministry of Justice, Kahramaa, Qatar Foundation, and others.

    Eng. Abdullatif Al-Yafei is responsible for the direct operated subsidiaries and non-operated investments at UDC. In his capacity he is responsible for the overall investment strategy, operational and financial performance of the investments. Al-Yafei has more than 20 years of rich experience in strategic planning, corporate performance, operations, maintenance, project management, enterprise risk management and business continuity management systems. Prior to joining UDC he held various management positions in Qatar Petroleum and other prestigious organizations and lead several national initiatives in the State of Qatar.

Al-Emadi had previously worked with Ooredoo as a Network Engineer for 3 years and then Occidental Petroleum as a Project Manager for almost 5 years

    Karim Samaha is responsible for the management of audit reviews on the company’s entities in order to determine the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management, existing controls and governance processes for the units being assessed. This allows senior management to identify potential risks and control weaknesses within the business and to agree on solutions for remediation. He brings along more than 10 years of experience in the Development and Contracting sectors.

    Maher Naim joined UDC in 2005 and has since specialized in leading the company’s development as well as the management and control of all its financial activities. For more than a decade at UDC, his responsibilities have included preparing and monitoring the company's Budget, overseeing the management of Treasury and funding requirements along with issuing financial statements among others. In his current role he focuses on financial and business analysis, asset management and the company’s short and long term financial strategy. Prior to working with UDC, Naim held various senior managerial auditing positions at Arthur Andersen LLP, Ernst & Young and Deloitte. His past experience also includes Business Consulting Manager position at a local conglomerate in Qatar.

    Nouf Al-Sulaiti is UDC’s General Legal Counsel, the Head of the Legal Department and Secretary to UDC’s Board of Directors. She provides required legal guidance and advice to P&CEO and the management about activities and practices of the business. Before joining UDC, she was the legal lead and a member of the start-up team of Vodafone Qatar in 2009, taking part in the establishment of the company, issuance of the regulatory license and launch of the IPO. Nouf also served as Legal Counsel at Qatar Petroleum between 2005 and 2009.

    Talal Jondi is responsible for overseeing operations at UDC, including Engineering & Construction, HSSE, Procurement and Contracts Management. With his 29 years of international and GCC professional experience, Talal Jondi brings a wealth of knowledge in leadership and management of construction and real estate development to UDC. He has occupied various senior management positions in Europe, GCC and Qatar in leading international construction and real-estate development companies and had successfully led major flagship development.
